Christmas is coming, whether we’re ready for it or not.

This year I’m doing something a little different with my mini sessions. Rather than having one type of session, I’m offering two different mini session weekends, with two very different styles of photography.

So whether you’re looking for some fun, festive Christmas photographs or timeless family portraits that you can enjoy throughout the year, there’s an option for you.

Both weekends will take place in my studio in Ferndown, Dorset, with short, relaxed sessions designed to make getting some lovely family photographs as easy as possible.

First up are my Christmas-themed mini sessions on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November.

These sessions will have a definite Christmas feel, with festive styling and seasonal details to create photographs that feel special at this time of year.

They’re ideal if you’re looking for photographs for Christmas cards, gifts for grandparents, or simply some lovely pictures of your children enjoying the magic of Christmas.

 I’ll keep things relaxed and simple so please don’t worry.

The sessions can include children, siblings or the whole family, so you can choose what works best for you.

Christmas Mini Sessions are £95 and include 3 digital images.

The following weekend, 21st and 22nd November, I’ll be offering something completely different.

These will be traditional family portrait mini sessions, without the Christmas theme.

The idea is to create simple, timeless photographs of your family that won’t look out of place on your walls in January, June or five years from now.

These sessions are particularly suited to families who want updated photographs of everyone together, photographs of the children as they are now, or perhaps some lovely portraits of siblings.

There will still be plenty of opportunity for natural interaction and personality. I don’t believe family photographs need to feel stiff or overly posed, even when we’re creating more traditional portraits.

If you’re looking for a family photographer in Ferndown or Dorset, these sessions are a great way to update your family photographs without committing to a longer family shoot.

Which session is right for you?

It really comes down to what you’re looking for.

Choose the Christmas Mini Sessions if:

• You want photographs with a festive Christmas theme
• You’d like images for Christmas cards or gifts
• You want some fun seasonal photographs of the children
• You love having photographs that mark this particular time of year

Choose the Traditional Family Portraits if:

• You’d prefer timeless photographs without a Christmas theme
• You want updated photographs of the whole family
• You’d like photographs that can be displayed all year round
• You’d prefer a more traditional family portrait style

And of course, if you really can’t decide, there’s nothing stopping you from doing both.

Short sessions, lovely photographs

Mini sessions are deliberately short, making them a good option if you don’t fancy committing to a full family photoshoot.

They’re also particularly useful when photographing children. We can get a lot done in a short amount of time, without expecting them to spend hours in front of the camera.

My approach to family photography is always about capturing people as they really are. I’ll guide you when needed, but I’m not looking for perfect smiles and everyone staring at the camera in every photograph.

Sometimes the best images happen in between the poses.
