The benefits of extended family photoshoots
As a Bournemouth family photographer, I have the absolute privilege of being able to capture amazing photos during extended family photoshoots spanning the generations of families. There’s something really special about an extended family photoshoot, where grandparents, parents, children, and even great-grandchildren come together to celebrate the love between them. If you’ve been considering an extended family photoshoot, then read on and see how it can create lasting memories for your family. Here’s some more examples of my work on my website.
Words from some of my fabulous clients who have enjoyed an extended family photo shoot.
“My wife booked Fiona as a birthday present shoot for me. It was the first time we had ever done this and with two young grandchildren it was going to be extra special. We have just received the results and they are absolutely stunning. She was great with the children and her suggested location was perfect. If you are thinking of having a photoshoot just book Fiona, you will not be disappointed.”
“We booked Fiona for a 3 generation, 12 person family photo shoot while on holiday in Bournemouth. She was fantastically professional from the first email contact and so patient with our crazy family on the day. The photos are just beautiful, I am really thrilled with them. I never imagined we would get such wonderful photos, with 6 uncooperative children to control and cloudy skies and drizzle. I am thrilled and the rest of the family will be too. Highly highly recommended. Lovely to deal with, beautiful photos, and a very quick turnaround too.”
Why Choose an Extended Family Photoshoot?
1. Celebrate the family – An extended family photoshoot is a perfect opportunity to celebrate the unique and loving relationships within your family. It’s a chance to capture the love of grandparents and parents, and the joy and energy of grandchildren all in one photo. These photos become much loved heirlooms that can be passed down through generations.
2. Create Timeless Memories – Life moves fast, and family dynamics are constantly changing. An extended family photoshoot allows you to freeze a moment in time, preserving the love, laughter, and togetherness of your family. As years go by, these photos become a precious reminder of the family’s history.
3. Perfect for Family Gatherings and big birthdays- Whether it’s a family gathering, a milestone birthday, or a special anniversary, an extended family photoshoot can be such fun. It’s a wonderful way to bring everyone together that results in beautiful photographs everyone will treasure.
4. Professional Quality and Convenience – My extended family photoshoots are designed to be convenient and enjoyable. Lasting just one hour, these sessions are perfect for keeping even the youngest family members engaged and happy. For a single price of £350, you’ll receive all edited, high-resolution images, ensuring you have a collection of stunning photos to share, print, and display. The shoots can include the whole family, however may there are of you!
5. Smaller group shots – An extended family photoshoot isn’t just about large group shots. It’s also a great opportunity to capture smaller groups of family members – grandparents with their grandchildren, siblings together, or even just the kids. I can also photograph each individual family, which makes the session great value! several sessions in one.
Tips for a great family photoshoot
1. What to wear? – While matching outfits aren’t necessary, coordinating colours and styles can create a look that enhances the overall aesthetic of your photos. Think about choosing a colour palette that complements the location and season of your shoot. Autumn colours work so well in autumn shoots. I would avoid black tops and too many patterns block colours work well.
2. Plan Ahead – To make the most of your hour-long session, it’s helpful to plan ahead. Let’s have a chat about any specific shots or groups you’d like to capture. This ensures a smooth and efficient session, allowing more time for spontaneous and candid moments.
3. Keep it Fun and Relaxed – The best photos often come from natural, relaxed interactions. Encourage family members to be themselves, and enjoy the experience. This will really show in the final images.
4. How to choose your location – Let’s have a chat about the options, I have some favourites that I know will work well at certain times of year but I would love to hear your ideas too, I’m always open to suggestion and would love to go some where that is special to you. I also have a special permit to be able to do photoshoots in The New Forest.
